Wedding Locations Guide

Before you look for venues, decide on the size of the reception (the number of guests) and your budget. You can then begin scouting locations based on these two factors. Your wedding can be held indoors or outdoors, at places with in house catering or bring your own food type rented halls, in traditional or unconventional locations.

>
>

If you want to go the really personal route, then a home wedding would work great for you. This of course will depend of the size of the yard, and the number of guests. If your parent's house won't accommodate a large number of guests, see if you can borrow a friend's house for the day. Having a home wedding is the most uncomplicated option, besides being the most personal one.

Hotels, reception halls, restaurants and banquet halls are some of the traditional wedding venues. The advantages are many. Parking facilities are usually available, and in many venues, in house catering services make the task of finding caterers from outside redundant. However, you might be tied down with regards to music and food. Some places don't allow outside caterers or bands so you might have no choice but to go along with their food and live band choices.

Non traditional venues like parks and beaches are perfect for whimsical free spirited couples. These are obviously free, and therefore much less expensive than hiring a wedding hall or restaurant. However city permits have to be obtained. Make sure you have permits and other formalities in order before planning the wedding. Some parks do not allow chairs to be placed on the grounds. Tie in elements of the wedding location with your selection of wedding favors. For instance for a park wedding, go with colorful soap petals in translucent boxes. If you're planning on a wedding on the beach, include some ocean or beach elements into your wedding like beach theme wedding favor boxes or flip flop place card holders.

Some resorts and hotels offer to take over all your wedding planning and arrangements for you. For a flat fee you can sit back and have everything from the flowers and the catering to the music taken care of. All you have to do is put on a white dress and show up! Plus, many resorts throw in a complimentary honeymoon suite for the couple. If you aren't too picky about personalizing your wedding, this might be the perfect option for you.

Houses of worship are an eternally popular choice. If your parents got steps to get married at a particular chapel, you might want to get hitched there too. Somehow the atmosphere of the church adds to the poignancy of the moment. Plus most churches are grand enough that you don't need to decorate the venue extra. Check up on whether the house of worship allows music and alcohol. You'll also be required to bring your own food.

It's not enough to merely decide on a location. You'll need to book the venue as soon as possible, especially if you're getting married during the wedding season between April and August.

Whatever your choice of location, try not to go overboard with the outlandish venues. If your guest list includes the elderly and kids, you don't want to get hitched on a mountain top or some such equally adventurous spot. Save the exotic locations for the honeymoon!

Wedding Locations

A big question for newly engaged couples is where they should have their wedding - get married here or have a destination wedding? Both options offer positives and negatives. The important thing is to consider personal preference, budget, family accommodations, and wedding style when making this decision.

>
>

Personal Preference

The first thing to consider when deciding where you will get married is what you and your fiancé have in mind. Perhaps you have always dreamed of an elaborate church wedding, and he was thinking more of a simple beach wedding. Taking a part of each of your dreams can bring together the perfect wedding. The important thing is that you agree on a location that you both will enjoy.

Budget

Almost all brides are on a budget, and location can make a deep dent in the budget if you are not careful. Popular locations such as historic hotels or mansions will require higher budgets and early reservations - rushed schedules can cost extra! The same goes with country clubs - but you can find a location much less expensive if you are a bit creative.

Is there a location that is sentimental to you and your fiancé? Maybe a park or outdoor location near where you had your first date? Finding places that are not already popular wedding locations can possibly offer a lower cost than expected. You could even check with your college to see if a theater or concert hall is available, and possibly receive an alumni discount.

Family Accommodations

Do you have a family member that will require special accommodations? Does your grandmother have a difficult time climbing stairs? Questions such as these can help you narrow down your choices for wedding locations. If you are choosing between a small church that is at the top of a large hill and a larger church on a flat surface, it might be easier for Grandma to attend the wedding at the second location. Not to say that everyone in your family must be 100% happy with the location you choose, but keeping major accommodations (such as being wheelchair accessible) in mind will make the party even happier!

Wedding Style

After you and your fiancé have shared your ideas of a dream wedding, try to decide what you desire to be the "feel" of your wedding - this will determine your wedding style. If you are going for vintage and charming, perhaps a local historic site would be a good choice. If you would rather go for large and theatrial wedding, a large church or concert hall would probably be the best choice. No matter where you choose to hold your wedding, make sure you and your fiancé are in agreement and are both excited about the location. It should be a place that is in budget, fits your style, and can accommodate all of your guests. If possible, you may want to have wedding cars available for the guests if the location is out-of-the-way. However, remember that when the wedding car drives you away from that dream location, all that will have mattered is that you shared that special day with the people you love.

Wedding Locations - How To Choose A Location For My Wedding?

The location of the wedding is certainly one of the important things that a couple must consider on planning for their wedding. The wedding location greatly affects the theme and the mood of the couple's wedding. There is a wide range of wedding locations that are available and it is just a matter of knowing where and how to look or select the perfect location that will suit the couple's preferences in style.
In considering a particular location, it may be necessary to look into these few questions first that could serve as key factors in choosing a perfect location for the dream wedding.

>
>

First is the distance of the location. How long will it take for the guests to reach the place?

Second, will there be any accommodations for the guests who are living out of town?,

Third, and most important, the couple must check to see if there were already previous weddings that have taken place in the location that they will be choosing.

It may be helpful for the couple to start first in looking for a location within their hometowns. It is best to look into clubhouses, parks, gardens, courthouses or marinas that are being rented for occasions such as this. Or, the couple could also select a more traditional location for the wedding, like a hotel ballroom. In choosing a hotel ballroom, the couple will have the opportunity to select from a wide choice of simple to elaborate decorating designs, and from old trends for celebrating the wedding to the new and latest trends. This would not be difficult for the couple to organize because there is usually a banquet manager who will guide the couple in choosing the wedding that they prefer. Added to this is the fact that most hotels offer packages and discounts that the couple would be able to choose from. An additional advantage is the ease in parking for the guests and the availability of the rooms where the whole entourage would be able to prepare.

Another location to consider if the couple has a large budget for their wedding is the country club. This will be possible if the family of the couple has been a member of the country club for quite some time. The advantage of this location is that it can offer a very nice locale and comfortable atmosphere, not only for the couple but for the guests as well. Wedding packages are also available in country clubs, so the couple would be able to select according to their own preferences of how they would like their wedding to be.

And last, a couple could also choose to celebrate their wedding outdoors. Though it is very romantic to celebrate, it may, however, be hard to do because of the weather factor. There must be an available tent or indoor facility where the guests would be able to stay. There should be are least cooling systems that could be rented in order to control the temperature in case it is to be held in a very hot season.

If the couple has a wedding planner, this person would be able to anticipate all that is needed for this kind of location. However, it may really be painstaking if one is not available to address these concerns.

A California Wedding - Best California Wedding Locations From the Mountains to the Sea

Planning a wedding in California is like planning a wedding at Disneyland -- do you want it to be in the Magic Castle or Pirates of the Caribbean or Tomorrowland? There are so many magical choices all with complete wedding services. A California wedding in any of the Golden State's breathtaking regions promises to be the most romantic event of your life while played out against a backdrop of towering redwoods in Northern California, sun-tinged vineyards beyond Monterey Bay in Central California, crimson sunsets at the beaches along Southern California, and traditional music and festivities along the cobalt Sea of Cortez in Baja.

>
>

Northern California Wedding Locations -- Emerald Lake Tahoe to the Redwoods of Santa Cruz

Planning a wedding is hard enough without the bride and groom having to choose among such rarified California wedding locations for their big day. Fortunately, complete wedding services, from a wedding planner to a florist, can be found at any of these California wedding locations no matter how deep into the Big Sur cliffs you want to toss the bouquet, or how far out to sea you want your chartered yacht to sail from the Port of San Francisco. A San Francisco, California wedding stuns even the locals. The Golden Gate Bridge parading over the glistening blue Bay, the Victorian dotted hills overlooking this dazzling city with her endless gardens and parks, luxurious and intimate hotels and spas, a seaside so bustling and exciting everyday -- all here to give you the best, biggest day of your life.

A wedding in California just doesn't get any prettier than Sonoma wine country and miles of pristine open pastures that Henry James would envy. Lakes and rivers meander through this unspoiled Eden providing magnificent views all around your wedding ceremony.

The Napa Valley vineyards stretch into yellow-fringed hillsides above the Golden Gate where pastoral California weddings are celebrated. Private villas and mansions are available for the whole day so you and your guests can linger in this golden heaven where the bride and groom play bocce ball between champagne toasts. Noteworthy chefs serve delicious fare of the highest quality putting Napa at the top of the list of most unforgettable California wedding locations.

Lake Tahoe is one of California's most awe-inspiring natural resources, its blue green sparkles providing a serene view from any of the lovely hotels where you can exchange your wedding rings. The lake, edged with sky-piercing pines and the mountains, is a perfect spot for a wedding when everything is white with snow or in spring when there are too many shades of green to count in this California wedding wonderland.

California weddings in Santa Cruz are cozy and elegant at the same time, their ceremonies balanced in beautifully appointed hotels and spas among the redwoods along a staggering coastline. It's hard to believe that full wedding services are available in these treetops, but you can add it to the wonders of this aerie. Nobody ever wants to leave heaven's playground. Nobody has to, at least not until the honeymoon is over.

Central California Wedding Locations -- the Monterey Peninsula to the Santa Barbara Riviera

A wedding in California celebrated at any of the lovely hotels, spas and golf courses in the seaside village of Carmel or Carmel Valley is tough to top. Vintage hotels that entertained Hollywood royalty in the day still roll out the red carpet for the lucky bride and groom. Ocean views through Monterey Pines create a stunning picture postcard behind the newlyweds. The Monterey Peninsula gives you the best of two worlds in a California wedding: rolling golden hillsides of vineyards beyond the rugged, aspen-lined coast. Delightful hotels, spas and vineyards cater complete wedding services to indoor and outdoor wedding celebrations.

Of all the California wedding locations, Santa Barbara, the "American Riviera," just keeps on giving. Santa Barbara is like Camelot where "the rain may never fall 'till after sundown." This charming beach town, nested between the mountains and the sea, shines like a jewel after every rain. But it rarely rains so you can plan on a delightful California wedding year round at one of the ocean-view hotels and spas here, Rincon, and all the way to Ventura. Or pop over the mountain to the Santa Ynez Valley and Solvang for more grapevines and horse ranches where you can enjoy wine tasting, hiking and horseback riding after you can stand on your pampered dancing feet the day after the big day.

Southern California Wedding Locations - A Malibu Beach Wedding to San Diego Vintage Hotels

You don't have to be a star to have a Malibu beach wedding, but you still get treated like one at some of the most gracious and luxurious spas and resorts here in this idyllic California wedding location. From oceanfront, canopied verandas to a garden odyssey with waterfalls and lakes, Malibu provides you with exceptional choices for California weddings. Complete wedding services and so much more are available for Malibu beach weddings and flower garden nuptials.

There's more to Palm Springs than golf courses -- rose petal aisles lead to lakeside weddings, fairy tale terraces overlook acres of gardens, classic hotels provide rejuvenating spa treatments to you and your guests. It's no wonder that Palm Springs has become one of the most sought-after locations for California weddings.

Celebrating your vows at a San Diego vintage hotel is about the most traditional Southern California wedding because of the architecture, history, charm and grace of these grand dames. All these lovely aspects of places like The Del in Coronado or The Abbey on Fifth shower your celebration with more than rice. Their exquisitely tended rooms and tinted windows bestow their best wishes from weddings past.

Baja California Weddings -- Dip your Toes into the Sea of Cortez

Baja California wedding locations along the turquoise seashore offer a great escape for you and your wedding guests. Most people don't think of Baja as a Southern California wedding destination so these resorts are not too crowded. They are fun, provide great music and unbelievable food in addition to complete wedding services. The hotels in Baja are a breathtaking getaway for everybody while still being conveniently located near San Diego.

No matter what destination you choose, you will find a California wedding location to make your dreams come true.

An Overview on Popular Destination Wedding Locations and Their Climates

Timing is everything, and when choosing a destination wedding location it is even more important. From the overall look of the beaches to the intensity of the sunsets, planning the perfect time is the key to a wedding that will create a lifetime of memories.

>
>

These are some of the top destination wedding locations with their respective climate descriptions.

If you are looking for a skiing and winter venue, two places stand out. The first is a very well known venue, but the second is just as good if not better.

Telluride Colorado

This is actually a beautiful location year round, but it is world renowned for skiing and winter activities. This is the reason why every celebrity and star has a house or at least reservations for the next season there. Summers are mild and winters provide everything they say it will. If hotels had a category 6, you will find them here.

Grouse Mountain - British Columbia, Canada

This is the lesser-known cousin of Telluride. This is one of the most established skiing and destination wedding venues close to the American N.W.

The beauty of Grouse Mountain is the proximity to Vancouver BC, and Bellingham Washington State (int airports) and the range of accommodations. There is a reason why every celebrity and star with a place at Telluride has a place at Grouse Mountain also. Travel is very easy for US citizens. Just a passport and you are there.

If the winter snow is not your ideal destination wedding idea, then go south.

If your wedding is during the U.S. winter months, and you want the pure sun and fun, Argentina, South Africa and Australia are the best places to go to, because their summer is our winter.

All three of these locations offer stunning beaches, accommodations, casinos, water sports and South Africa also offers exhilarating safaris! Cape Town in South Africa is a city rich in history dating back over 500 years.

If you want the sun and fun domestically, then you should consider Phoenix, Vegas and Florida.

If you want a destination wedding where your guests can enjoy the water while being in a tropical setting, then the following three locations will not let you down.

Fiji

If you are looking for exclusivity then you are looking for Fiji. Fiji is simply a vacation and destination wedding paradise. Space is limited and reservations are needed especially for parties over 8. This place is incredibly popular.

Hawaii

Hawaii is very familiar with Americans and provides everything that you would expect... 5 star luxury in a 10 star location. Hawaii is everything you have seen on TV and more!

Bahamas

Bahamas is one of the most popular upscale U.S. destination wedding locations. This is another very beautiful tropical location that is much more laid back than Hawaii. The weather is normally mild year round except for the occasional hurricane during the U.S. hurricane season.

From the slopes to the beaches, top destination wedding locations are found both domestically and internationally. Make sure to plan around the weather and you will create wonderful memories for both yourself and your guests!

Top 5 Wedding Location Recommendations

It's that time of year again - no, not just the holiday season - ROMANCE! This time of year is prime engagement time with the new year the start of the search for the perfect wedding location.

Often couples don't want a traditional white wedding and would prefer to escape to the sun (or snow). So here are some of our recommendations for the best places in the world to get married.

>
>

Best for SUN - Hawaii

These tropical islands make a truly romantic location in which to exchange your vows. Located in the Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles away from the nearest landmass, they benefit from temperatures in the high 20°s c year-round, with the gentle trade winds making it not too hot or sticky.

Hawaii is perfect for the couples looking for a dream tropical location, but with plenty of activities available if you want to explore. Marry on the beach at sunset while the palm trees wave in the gently breeze and the waves lap at your feet; tie the knot in a stunning tropical garden with a view of the lush mountains; or simply choose a wonderful luxury resort and get married in the grounds under a wedding gazebo with a view of the ocean - whatever you choose, there's an amazing choice of wedding location in Hawaii.

Best for SNOW - Canada

Are you fed up of every wedding abroad being held in a tropical beach? Do you dream of a winter wedding in the snow? Then Canada makes the ideal wedding destination for you.

Central Canada's snow season lasts from November to April and there are many fantastic locations from which to choose. Couples looking for a fairytale wedding might be interested in the modern faux chateau-style of the Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, or in one of the many historical-style hotels in French-speaking Montréal. For an incredible wedding backdrop, set your wedding ceremony against snow-covered mountains as the sun drops behind them, the colours will be amazing. The Ice Hotel in Québec holds weddings with a difference - just make sure you pack a warm wedding dress if you pick this option! You could choose to marry in a log cabin, arrive in style in a horse drawn sleigh or ice skate up to the chapel. With all these options it's hard to beat Canada for a winter wedding!

Best CITY wedding - New York

New York, New York, so good they named it twice! What better place to hold a city wedding than in the city that never sleeps? There are so many world famous wedding locations in this city that it's difficult to choose the best - Times Square, Central Park and The Empire State Building to name but three, but there are so many other amazing locations in the city in which you can marry that it's no wonder New York is one of the world's most popular city wedding destinations. You can even exchange your vows in a helicopter as you soar above the skyscrapers and over the island of Manhattan! Many professional wedding planners in New York have worked for the rich and famous over the years, so if you're dreaming of a "celebrity" style wedding you could ask your planner to imitate a specific style of ceremony, or, of course, simply hold your own unique wedding in this amazing city.

Best for SAFARI - South Africa

How about exchanging your vows in a luxurious lodge overlooking a waterhole where elephants, giraffe and zebra take their evening drinks? Well, this could be you if you marry in South Africa!
Luxurious game lodges and tented camps abound in the many game reserves of South Africa, and whether you choose a private reserve or the famous Kruger Game Reserve, you're bound to see some amazing sights during your time here. For the energetic there are early morning game drives to see the animals as they settle in for the day, as well as the dusk drives which usually involve a sundowner drink while watching the sun set and listening to the animals awake as the earth cools down. For a truly atmospheric wedding and honeymoon, South Africa is a hard destination to beat.

Best FAIRYTALE wedding - Germany

Once upon a time there was a bride who dreamed of a fairytale wedding, and lo and behold she found it....in Germany. Maybe not an obvious wedding destination, but Germany and most of Eastern Europe have plenty of amazing old castles which have nowadays been transformed into upscale hotels and make excellent wedding locations. If your perfect wedding involves turrets, moats and drawbridges then consider Germany and her near neighbours for your destination wedding. Southern Germany in particular boasts many restored castles set amidst forested valleys - try the Black Forest area to start with - as do neighbouring Austria and the Czech Republic. Depending on your budget you could easily hire the whole castle for your guests and really make your wedding one to remember!

Top Five Best Wedding Locations

So, you have been proposed to and it was the best day of your life. The next step is to plan your wedding which will be even better. Everything has to be perfect from your dress to the décor and of course no wedding ceremony and reception are complete without a stunning venue location. Here are the top choices for wedding locations to inspire you.

>
>

The Beach - This is the classic choice for modern couples. The sound of the sea, the casual elegance of the beach and the amazing views all create a magical day that will be remembered forever. You can choose a private beach where you live that will allow you to bring furniture onto the beach and you can make it wonderful.

A Fancy Resort Hotel - Most historical buildings and mansions are turned into hotels and many of them allow wedding parties to hire the venue. The classic ballroom is usually where the wedding reception will be held and some offer a romantic private ceremony in the manicured gardens. This location is the best for large weddings.

A Marquee - If you have a large wedding and no venue options near you, then to hire a marquee will be the best idea. You can go crazy with the décor and create the perfect atmosphere in a garden, nearby field or park, or even on a farm. You can use fairy lights and more to create a stunning location for your wedding.

A Tropical Island - In keeping with the beach idea, many couples choose a tropical island destination for their weddings. This is usually only possible with smaller weddings and gives you a honeymoon location at the same time. You can find gorgeous beaches with plenty of overlooking reception venues and even tropical garden paradises if you prefer. Places like Hawaii, Jamaica, Bali and the Seychelles are all time favorites.

At Home - They say home is where the heart is and if you have a family or friend where you live that has a large enough house, this can be one of the best wedding locations. This is great because you will have full reign over decorating it and you can use the garden if you are having a summer wedding.

Unique Wedding Locations

Weddings are one of the most important days in someone's life and it is important that people who are being wed make sure that they properly plan their wedding so that each facet of their wedding is properly planned. Many brides and grooms actually hire a professional wedding planner because they can meticulously plan every detail of the wedding.

One of the most important things to consider when deciding to get married is the location. Most couples just get married  in a church, but there are some couples who desire a more unique wedding location. If you are one of these couples, consider some of these locations that are more interesting and unique than your traditional locations.

>
>

The Beach

It sounds like a cliche, but it can be both unique and magical. There are beaches in the Caribbean that actually "appear" only at low tide, because at high tide they are underwater. Adventurous couples come to such beaches to wed and enjoy the boat ride to their wedding location. After the ceremony, most couples board a yacht out at sea for a reception to remember. Make sure that you consider travel arrangements for this type of wedding.

A Rooftop

Couples who love their city could consider wedding on top of a large building in their home city. These weddings are difficult to achieve and you need to get special permission to hold a wedding like this, but it does allow adventurous couples to have a unique wedding that nobody will ever forget.

The Location You Met

It sounds crazy, but some people get married in completely random locations, like a Laundromat or a ballpark. They get married in these locations because of special reasons like they met there or had their first date there. Any location will do, as long as it can hold enough people to have a successful ceremony.

A National Landmark

A great place to have a wedding is a national landmark like the Grand Canyon, Niagara falls, and other unique locations. Consider getting married on the Maid of the Mist boat at Niagara Falls. That would be a wedding your guests would surely never forget.

If you are planning a wedding, make sure you are prepared for all of the intricate details that you will need to prepare. One of the most important things to consider for your wedding is the location. If you are a couple that does not wish to get married  in a traditional church, but are looking for something a bit more adventurous, consider one of these unique locations.

A beach is a great, elegant place to get married  A rooftop will provide a stunning backdrop to an unforgettable wedding. The posterity of the location you met could be a charming location and a national landmark would surely dazzle your guests. Make sure you are making a choice that you will be happy with, that is the most important thing to consider.
